Facilities


SVK is situated in a former textile mill in the center of Gothenburg, Sweden. The studio has over 2000 m2 housing conservation studios, chemical laboratory, x-ray, photo studio, disinfestation room and functional storage areas. The studio co-operates with the University of Gothenburg, Chalmers University of Technology and other research laboratories and specialists.

The conservation laboratories are specialised in paintings, paper, textiles, wood, metall and ceramics for conservation of objects, art, archaeology and ethnography. Conservation work is carried out in the studios as well as in situ.
x-ray
Chemical laboratory, x-ray and photo studio for research and documentation.

Access to high technology equipment as Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (SIMS), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Environmental Scanning Electron Microscope (ESEM) with x-ray unit (EDX) and qualified scientists at the University.

The equipment for disinfestation of pest consists of a 20 m3 freezing room (capacity -40°C).
